Description
This CPD certified e-learning course provides healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to identify, prevent, and manage Look-Alike, Sound-Alike (LASA) medication errors during the prescribing process. LASA errors are a significant cause of medication-related harm and can occur when drugs with similar looking or sounding names are confused, potentially resulting in serious patient safety incidents.
Through two interactive modules, real-world examples and a case study, this course explores the root causes of LASA errors, the high-risk medications most commonly involved, and the system-level strategies that can reduce their occurrence.
Learners will gain insights into human factors and best practices for safe prescribing, including promoting a culture of safety through reporting and learning from errors.
The course should take around 2-3 hours in total to complete, including self-directed learning from recommended references.
A final assessment at the end will test understanding and recap on key learning points, and a pass mark of 70% is required to complete the course and receive a certificate.
